MACE at CBT-AG Saarbrücken, 7 – 8 April 2008. MACE has been presented at the 12th Workshop of the working group „Computerunterstützte Lehr- und Lernsysteme in der Medizin1“ of „Deutsche Gesellschaft für Medizinische Informatik, Biometrie und Epidemiologie (GMDS)2“. Humance AG’s 100% subsidiary company bureau42 GmbH presented learning solutions and technologies at CBT-AG. Especially the current results of the MACE-project (approaches, technologies, visualizations) have been shown and discussed. In various discussions among participants and bureau42 representants, similarities between the metadata-oriented content strategies of MACE and the case-based learning solutions in the medical area have been discussed. Interest in the MACE metadata approaches and visualization widgets has been raised. In general, content organisation strategies in the medical sector have high level similarities to the problems addressed by MACE: - Contents are organised along cases (buildings in architecture, patients in medicine).
- There is a strong need for high quality metadata in both areas, as cases are highly individual and thus hard to compare.
- Additionally, when contents are to be prepared for educational purposes, both communities share the problem of retrieving adequate content.
Humance AG stays in contact in order to evaluate possible follow-up activities. Participants of the workshop have been informed about (and invited to) the MACE conference.
